Dishwasher installation mishaps and fixes

A dishwasher is one of the main devices easier to install, usually need two plumbing connections simple, a little wiring and screws for mounting. It is also light enough that most people on hand to swap a unit without an assistant. Yet if all this is true, you may be wondering, why so many dishes installed incorrectly? We have all seen the dishwasher with doors that rub against the cabinet or who lurch forward when a full rack is pulled. The answer is somewhat of a paradox: as painting a house, installing a dishwasher is easy enough that many people will try it with prior knowledge little or no experience, and some of of us just learn the hard way. Smarter people read articles like this first. </ P> Warnings
Water Line </ p> You must purchase your own water supply pipes and fittings for a new dishwasher. What you need is a 3/8-inch OD steel braided flexible water pipe with 3/8-inch female compression fittings on both ends.Do not buy a connection with a garden-hose-sized at one end, even when it is labeled "Hose washer." You also need a connection angle of the water line to the end dishwasher and a shut-off valve with two ports for water supply pipe under the kitchen sink (if is not already one). Tighten all connections carefully and check carefully for leaks before buttoning the dishwasher and forget about it. A small leak in the device could go undetected for a long time, wreaking havoc on your floor and everything below.</ P> Liquidation
is enough </ p> With the door closed, a dishwasher should be centered between the cabinets and accompanying the same be at the top (assuming the bar is level). If the door rubs against a cabinet, remove the mounting screws (see discussion below) and press or to surprise the dishwasher more for more clearance, then install the screws into the pilot holes. If the door touches the desk, remove the solid top on the front bottom of the dishwasher, and use the channel-type pliers to turn the positions of the feet, they threaded height adjustment for the downward and / or unit level if necessary. </ P
problems> with mounting screws </ p> <p The only thing holding up a dish are two screws on the little metal tabs (above the door) to the underside of the counter. The thickened edge of a laminate countertop is 1 1 / 2 inches. Guess what happens if you use two-inch screws? Same for solid surface tops (like Corian). So do not use screws that are too long and be very careful in their conduct, just to be safe. </ P>
Granite countertops and other stone present a special challenge because there is no wood substrate to screw into. Whatever you do, do not live in the stone. Tim Hewitt reshape Hometalk.com said, "The use of lateral supports is the normal way to get a dishwasher into place with a granite countertop." You can anchor the dishwasher to support firms, provided the unit has side mounting tabs (many newer units do).Otherwise, you can stick a strip of wood or two small blocks on the underside of the counter, then screw the tabs at the top in the wood (not stone). In all cases, talk to your supplier or installer for counter recommendations. </ P> defective drain plug </ p> never called a plumber in a panic because your kitchen sink is saved in your dishwasher? If so, you know it is just as bad as it sounds. This can happen if the drain hose from the dishwasher is not connected to a device or air, without air space, the pipe does not make a turn that reaches high above the water level in the sink. Another classic misadventure is to connect the drain hose to a garbage disposal, but forget to remove the plastic lid inside the nipple of the disposer, so the drain line is actually sealed shut. A tap with a screwdriver and hammer away the KO, just remember to fish out of the disposer before you run it </ p> Philippe Schmidt is a Networx - http://www.networx.com - writer ..Read more articles like this - http://www.networx.com/article/dishwasher-installation-mishaps-and-fixe - on Networx.com.
